An Answer to Jordan Peterson
How do we know when the "left" goes too far?

In the span of two generations, what was once called the “left” has gone from protesting for free speech to applauding mass censorship. The “left” has gone from opposing war and symbolically placing flowers in the rifle barrels of soldiers to demanding war in Ukraine to the last Ukrainian. It has gone from finding inspiration in the peaceful resistance of Gandhi and Martin Luther King to applauding the indiscriminate terrorism of Hamas.
What we are told is the “left” has gone from the anti-materialism of the beats, hippies, and punks to worshipping the greed, egotism, and pathological status-seeking of their corporate-sponsored multimillionaire pop-culture idols.
The “left” has gone from reviling oligarchs, big corporations, the military- industrial complex, and the regime’s secret police in the form of the FBI, CIA, and sundry bad actors to championing these very same authoritarian institutions and defending their every scheme.
During the years of hell that were COVID, the “left” went from championing bodily autonomy to demanding that anyone that does not inject highly profitable yet medically dubious corporate products on demand be fired from their job, be denied healthcare (implicitly be left to die), be locked in their home or be forcibly consigned to concentration-like camps and punished mercilessly if they resist.
Many on the so-called “left” even went so far as to demand that the children of the hated “anti-vaxxers” be taken away for the crime of not blindly trusting billionaires with dollar signs in their eyes or careerist petty millionaires in white lab coats.
We observed with our own eyes how members of this thing they call the “left” became absolutely giddy at the notion of authorities holding people down with force and ejecting experimental chemicals into their bodies as they scream.
A left that once celebrated R. P. McMurphy has metamorphosized into Nurse Ratched before our very eyes.
The situation in America has reached such levels of absurdity that we can now observe ideological contortions such as anarchists for government mask mandates, communists for Soros and hippies for censorship. The term “left” has become even more debased and meaningless than the term “gender.”
The observable reality is that we no longer have a left-wing, we have only different species of right.
In as much, please allow me instead to answer this question: When do teachers, university professors and administrators, media personalities, activists, bureaucrats, liberals, progressives, Democrat, Liberal and Labour party members, etc. (hereinafter “statist busybodies”) go too far?
Here are three red flags for your consideration.
When the statist busybodies deny the existence of natural rights, they have gone too far.
Today we see movement among the oligarchs and their bourgeois harpies in the activist and professional classes to deny the very concept of natural rights. That is, the revolutionary idea of the Enlightenment, upon which America was founded, that holds human rights come from nature, from God (if you are a believer) or by virtue of our very existence (if you are not) and are independent of and superior to any government or earthly authority.
I think, therefore I am. And because I am, I have rights.
Only to those who are tyrants at heart is there no such thing as a natural right.
To this new and threatening breed of globalist authoritarian there is no such thing as natural rights, only privileges to be apportioned by a central authority controlled by them be it the state or some malevolent, “non-governmental” cutout or corporation led by overpaid and wholly unaccountable “stakeholders” or “experts.”
Forgotten by most, but something we all must start remembering, is that the government is nothing more than a group of people who call themselves the government.
In other words, anyone that holds that rights come from government is just telling us that they believe that the rights of some people exist entirely at the pleasure of some other people and nothing more.
There is another word for that, one that we have heard a lot about of late, it’s called supremacy. Anyone that rejects the existence of natural rights is a supremacist by definition.
In 21st century America, the supremacists do not like to be called supremacists.
These post-modern supremacists prefer to go by softer-sounding names, like expert, stakeholder, credentialed, or elite.
These deniers of natural rights like to pretend their naked lust for wealth, power, privilege, and status is all just one big altruistic endeavor to make the world a better place. That the seemingly limitless personal benefit that accrues to them in the process is entirely justified by some special expertise they may or may not have or the fancy titles, degrees or accolades they enjoy giving out to one other.
The divine right of kings, dictatorship of the proletariate, and führerprinzip have given way to a new justification for absolute power that rests upon educational degrees or other such meaningless credentials, claims of special expertise (usually asserted in areas that are wholly off-topic to their narrow experience or just totally made up), one’s rank or title in some institutional contrivance or corporation, technological hegemony, brute financial coercion, self-proclaimed moral superiority, or just plain superiority with no qualifiers asserted loudly and often.
In America today, scratch a run-of-the-mill Democrat activist or administrative class professional and you’ll find a supremacist underneath.
Scratch a Democrat, find a supremacist.
Just stop and listen closely to the way they talk. Almost to a person, they obsess about remaking the world in their image and to their liking with little moral compunction about hurting anyone who’s just not into it and destroying their lives and their culture along the way.
That one human being can never be an expert in how another human being wishes to spend their short time on earth is lost on them. That the vast majority of the people on earth don’t want to be like them, don’t admire them, and are uninterested in their dishonest, self-serving solutions to things the rest of us don’t regard as problems is lost on them. That most of us just want to get as far away from these maniacal, power-mad, ultra-greedy egotists as possible and be left alone is also totally lost on on them.
This new authoritarian movement, which has come up through the heart of the Democrat Party in America and operates in open collusion with the corporate GOP warmongering and money-worshiping classes and the worst of the European establishment, denies our natural rights and asserts that they alone should determine what rights, or as they think of them, privileges, the people of the world can and cannot have.
By denying the reality of natural rights and asserting themselves as the omnipotent minders of everyone else’s business, what were once merely annoying snobs, parasites and busybodies have become dangerous extremists and a direct threat not only to freedom and democracy on earth but to humanity itself.
Natural rights denialism goes too far. It is the root of all that is cruel and inhumane. Those espousing such ideas should be regarded as sociopaths, profoundly immoral, unintelligent, animal-like, patently insane and completely unfit for participation in decision-making within civil society at any level.
When the statist busybodies assert that rights belong to groups rather than individuals, they have gone too far.
To an Enlightened human being, rights are the exclusive domain of individuals. Individuals are an objective unit of account. We all know what individuals are, the term has not yet been transed or otherwise defined away.
When rights become the domain of groups rather than individuals, the conditions for tyranny are thereby created.
The reason is simple. Who determines what groups there are? Who determines who is a member?
For the globalist authoritarians, of course, the answer is the experts, the stakeholders, the authorities, the special people, or as everyone should see them, the supremacists, who decide.
They confer upon themselves the power to determine what is a group deserving of rights and what is not. Men with breast implants are a recognized rights group and are recipients of special privileges, men with handlebar mustaches are not.
Why is this? Because the special people have ordained it.
When you change the unit of account from individuals to groups, the entire sociopolitical structure becomes putty in the hands of those who decide which groups are recognized and which groups are not, which groups matter and which groups do not.
Once a society starts down the road of normalizing such collectivist evilthink, people of rotten morality become free to slice and dice the population into groups as they see fit, for their own selfish benefit of course, thereby creating the building blocks of social hierarchies which, in turn, make political authoritarianism not only possible but inevitable.
Identity politics is not progress, but a devolutionary return to the cruel mean of human history - an odious con job whose design is to compartmentalize the mass of citizen have-nots into controllable and competing groups, or castes, as the supremacists see fit to define them.
Identity politics represents an existential danger to the rights, freedom and safety of each and every individual on earth. That this wholly discredited, medieval political arrangement is again gaining traction is a threat to us all and clearly goes too far.
When the statist busybodies deny that rights should be applied equally, they have gone too far.
Hand in hand with allocation of rights at the group level is distributing those rights unequally. If identitarian group-based rights are the building blocks of America’s peculiar brand of pervert oligarchic authoritarianism, unequally applied group rights are the mortar. Together, they facilitate the construction of old- fashioned patron-client relationships which serve to insulate the puppet masters at the tippy top from any sort of authentic democratic accountability.
Once the equality and universality of natural rights is denied, it falls to the state, the special people, the experts, the stakeholders, the supremacists to decide which group gets which rights and in what amount.
Anyone who wields the power to allocate economic resources and social privileges to groups unequally also wields the power to create an immovable hierarchy and to place themselves at the top.
As the carefully balanced foundation of our Enlightened republic comes undone through the breakneck centralization of power, and as more and more resources flow through fewer and fewer hands, we come to a predictable end – the emergence of an unaccountable and permanent dynastic ruling class of the few that savagely preys on the many.
Inevitably, this emerging caste of unaccountable rulers becomes the sole recipient of the privileges that matter most, chief among them are the ability to break virtually any law with impunity and to steal with both hands the fruits of the public’s labor by calling it “policy.”
Equity, which we can define simply as the absence of equality in the allocation of group-based privileges, serves exactly this end. Our less-than-illustrious class of rulers can never define what equity means precisely because it is designed to be amorphous. Its purpose is to cancel out the Enlightened and revolutionary idea of equality, a concept forever problematic to aspiring neo-royalty, and to replace it with old-fashioned patrimonialism with an inspiring-sounding new name.
Because equity has no definition other than being “not equality,” or better put, “anti-equality,” the powers-that-be are free to use it to bribe or deprive whatever group they might need at any given moment to facilitate their quest for permanent and unearned wealth, power, privilege, and status. The name of the game for America’s oligarchs is to simply cover up their scam by dressing it up in utopian socialist rhetoric and calling it equity.
Equity is a tool of oppression wielded by the haves to keep the have-nots atomized, unbalanced, in perpetual conflict, and under their control.
As globalist oligarchs hijack our institutions and use them to force the world to convert to their contrived wokist religion whose ideological pillars are government-sanctioned privileges, group rights and equity, how have the super rich been doing?
The answer is they have gotten far richer and at a faster pace than ever before.
The equity scam makes their ill-gotten loot untouchable, allowing these con artists to protect it on the cheap by paralyzing democracy through institutionalized division along what is for them the harmless lines of identity.
Equity is not social justice, it is affirmative action for oligarchs. It is fake Marxism designed and propagated by supremacist snobs and authoritarian greedsters to steer naive bourgeois activists, intellectuals and their lumpenproletariat dependents away from asking questions about how the dangerous proliferation of antihuman globalist billionaires and their minions are actually making all that money.
Equity, a tool of oppression which serves only to make the rich richer and the poor poorer, is an orchestrated deception. It is a direct attack by authoritarians on very concept of equality and goes too far by virtue of its rotten existence.
Afterword
Natural rights, individualism and equality are the zeros and ones of the source code of American democracy, which is powered by the ideals of the Enlightenment.
In the some 250 years since the American Revolution, these core Enlightenment values have made life uncomfortable for dictators everywhere and have made heinous practices like torture, slavery and genocide universally unacceptable.
Oppressed people around the world have longed to emulate America and demand its unique liberty for a reason - because without these foundational ideals, the ones that made America the essential nation since long before any of us where born, there can be no just system of government. Not even one to which we can aspire.
Anyone that advocates a system of government-sanctioned privileges rather than one based on natural rights, that advocates the rights of groups over the rights of individuals or that dares to suggest that rights should be unequally applied for any reason at all is corrupting the only source code on which democratic civilizations can run.
In America, we have taken for granted for so long that this source code will operate quietly in background that we seem to have forgotten it’s there. Now that it is being corrupted, people are taking notice yet seem unable to understand the cause of the craziness taking place all around us.
The simple answer is this: an Enlightened democracy cannot coexist with authoritarian ideologies. They stand in fundamental contradiction to one another.
One system must defeat the other. There is no middle ground. Collectivist, authoritarian ideologies like globalism and its official religion, wokism, once allowed in, coexist with democracy like a piranha coexists with a goldfish.
What people wrongly call the political “left” in the West in reality is a movement that has internalized the very same coldblooded, far-right authoritarian ideologies and behaviors that fueled horror shows such as fascism and nazism.
In the 21st century, we are faced with the worst of all worlds - a cunning and ruthless imperialist class of greedy, libertine supremacists wielding previously unimaginable technologies who have fallen madly in love with the tools of political oppression used by collectivist, totalitarian states.
We can know who has gone too far with a few simple questions: Where do rights come from? Do all individuals have natural rights? Should all rights be equal?
If the answer is anything other than some derivative of nature, yes and yes, we must help to pull those that morally fail back into the warm light of the Enlightenment and away from this new authoritarian evil that threatens to carry us off like a monster in the night.
